In most situations, getting things to be perfect takes trail and error.  This happens to be the case when it comes to Fresh & Fit Meals finding the best chicken to serve our clients.  We've gone through several different vendors thoughout the years trying to maximize on several points like yield per breast, freshness, flavor, size, fat content, waste, labor, etc. Though these are important things to look for, from a business aspect, we've become more concerned with where our chicken comes from and how those chickens are raised.

Fresh & Fit Meals has recently switched to Mary's Free Range Chicken...organic, free range, Non-GMO verified chicken farmed by Mary Pitman and her family at the Pitman family farm located just south of Fresno, California.  Mary's Chicken is known for their ethical treatment of their chickens.  They have been operating a free range/cage free farm allowing the chickens to eat and drink at their leisure. All of Mary's chickens grow naturally with plenty of room to roam in a caring environment on ranches in sunny California. Mary’s Chickens are fed a high quality organic vegetable diet with no animal by-products or additives.

Awesome facts I found about Mary's Chickens:

No Added Water, Vegetarian Diet • No Preservatives, No Antibiotics Ever, Raised Without Added Hormones

*Federal Regulations Prohibit The Use Of Hormones In Chicken

Mary's Free-Range Organic Air Chilled Chickens are an additional step up the ladder in humane farming practices; with freedom to move about and a premium diet void of any chemical stimulators.

Certified Organic feeds must be Certified by the USDA and everything that goes in them must be certified as well. Mary's Organic Chicken feed does not contain any of the following:

  • NO Animal By Products

  • NO Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)

  • NO Antibiotics

  • NO Pesticide Treated Grains

  • NO Grains Grown with Chemical Fertilizers

  • NO Synthetic Amino Acid

I found that info on their website www.maryschickens.com so feel free to check that out.  They are doing some really great things on the family farm and producing the some of the best chicken. I'm looking forward to taking a quick trip up the coast with the crew to visit the Pitman family farm in the next few months!

Stay healthy my friends!
